Jesus said, "As I have loved you, so you must love one another." (John 13.24b) Jesus calls us to love one another. That is our goal here at First Baptist! - to be a "church with a heart for Jesus."
We believe that showing Jesus' love includes: caring and connecting with others; building up believers to be stronger servants of Jesus; reaching out to our community and world with loving actions and Jesus' message. We also believe that we are called to show our "Heart for Jesus" through our worship, our Christlike lifestyle, and our growing faith.
As you join us for worship or activities we hope you will experience Jesus' love in tangible and active ways.

- We believe the Bible to be the inspired and the authoritative word of God.
- We believe in God the Son, Jesus Christ, who was born of the virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, and was crucified for the sins of mankind.
We believe in the resurrection of Jesus Christ from Death; in His ascension to the right hand of The Father, and His future personal return in power and glory.
- We believe the personal faith in Jesus Christ as Savior, and Lord is essential and sufficient for salvation.
We believe the Holy Spirit blesses every believer with spiritual gifts which are to be used for the edification and building-up of the Body of Christ (The Church).
We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; the saved to eternal life in God's heavenly presence, and the lost to eternal damnation and endless suffering.
We believe in the spiritual unity of all believers in Jesus Christ, as The Church, or the Body of Christ.

FIRST BAPTIST MISSION 2013...
“The Training Ground for Generations of Strong Families.” This is the focus of the Edna Martin Christian Center which in 1946 became a home mission of the American Baptist Churches, USA. As we think of our July 2013 mission focus for this Indianapolis Facility let us remember their concept of “Empowering, Encouraging, Engendering a Vision of Hope.” As you consider giving this month know that your gift will go towards ministry programs for children, adults, seniors and community residents for direct assistance in their lives and to achieve their potential. If you are able to provide a financial offering, please make your checks payable to the church and mark “Edna Martin Christian Center” on the memo line during the offering. Let’s remember to keep this important facility in our prayers.
MEN'S PRAYER GROUP...
A Men’s Multi-Denominational
Prayer Group will be meeting at
7 pm on, July 1, 2013, at First
Baptist Church. The group meets with the
purpose of a unified voice of
thankfulness and praise! Any
man who might have an interest
in being encouraged in their faith is welcome to attend.
"GOTTA MOVE! KEEPIN'IN THE STEP WITH THE SPIRIT" COMMUNITY VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL...
Community Vacation Bible School starting on Monday, July 8th to Thursday, July 11th from 9:00am to 11:30am at First Baptist Church.
Preschool and elementary-age children may register at church from June 2 through June 30 or at VBS. Three-year-olds may attend but must be accompanied by an adult.
Volunteers are still needed in many areas. See Rhonda Johnson to help.
Please pray for: the children who will attend, the adults who will make it happen, and that the Holy Spirit will work in everyone so that our Bible school will draw people near to God and be a witness of God's goodness in our community.
First Baptist will be hosting the Free Meal at Grace United Methodist Church on Wednesday, July 17th. Thanks to everyone that provided groceries and came to help in May. We sincerely appreciate everyone’s help and financial support. If you would like to make a monetary donation, checks can be written to First Baptist Church with Free Meal written on the memo line.
S.K.I.T. YOUTH PROJECT...
Church members and Sunday School classes and groups have given $1,306 to the youth group’s SKIT project. The Supporting Kids in Transition project provides clean clothing, comfort items and simple toys for children receiving care in the Woodlawn Hospital Emergency Room after being removed from their homes and before going to foster homes. The project will also receive a portion of the missions offering at Community Vacation Bible School, hosted this year by our church.
If you have an immediate need call the First Baptist Church of Rochester at 574-223-3613.
